An age old remedy for toothache is clove oil. You can apply clove oil to the aching tooth. The most effective way to do this is to dab a wad of cotton with a couple of drops of clove oil and clamp it between the tooth that is aching and your cheek. Try to leave this there till the taste of cloves fades away. Do it as often as you like. However, bear in mind that excessive clove oil may even cause a rash in your mouth and lead to a sore. So you would need to gauge your reaction to it and apply it accordingly. Vanilla or almond extract will also work to numb the pain. Apply the extract directly to the affected tooth.
