Home remedy for herpes infection

There is no immediate natural cure for herpes as such, but there are several measures that will ease the pain, halt the spread of infection and eventually defeat the infection. One of the first things to do is to fortify your immune system. This can only be done by getting a diet rich in veggies, fruits and fiber.

Get fresh air, exercise and keep a very positive outlook towards life. It is a fact that people who feel hostile, tense and depressed suffer more frequent outbreaks of herpes.

Resist the temptation to use everything in your medicine cabinet on the sores.

All that is needed is good old soap and water. Wash the area with warm water 3-4 times a day and leave it alone at other times. Touching the sores and then touching other parts of your body can cause the infection to spread. Wear loose fitting cotton undergarments for comfort and try to urinate on a roll of tissue, or in the bath so the urine does not come directly into contact with the sores. Do not wear anything synthetic in the groin area.
Direct some warm air onto the area with a blowdryer. Not only will this give immediate relief, it can help dry the sores out.

These supplements are not proven but do have some anecdotal evidence for use in herpes:

  • Zinc in capsule or ointment form
  • Butylated Hydroxytoluene
  • Aminoacid Lysine

Herbal remedies are supported by some studies in this regard. You can try Echinacea Purpurea, Siberian Ginseng, aloe and propolis which is found in bee products. Please avoid sexual intercourse while you have this problem, because it will aggravate your condition and pass it on to someone else.
