Prevention of infectious boils

Many things can cause boils. Ingrown hair, splinters or other foreign objects lodged in the skin, blocked up sweat glands and cuts and scrapes that get infected. Boils are infectious and can quickly spread to other parts of the body.

So don't touch boils or always was your hands with an antibacterial soap or rubbing alcohol afterwards. Never squeeze a boil which is near your lips or nose, because this can directly affect the brain.

Two simple ways to prevent boils are to use an antibacterial soap to wash your hands and body and to use a loofah while taking a bath to exfoliate dead skin.

Applying a warm compress will help heal the boil quickly and to drain out all the existing fluid. You can simply use wet, warm cloth and apply it for 20 minutes 3-4 times a day. You may need to keep this up for a week to see results. Be sure to do this even after the boil bursts to help drain out all the pus. You can also use heated tomato slices, onion slices, mashed garlic and the outer leaves of a cabbage in place of  a wet cloth. But be sure to wrap them up to keep them in place and change them every few hours.

If the boil is full of pus and feels taut to the touch, you ca sterilize a needle and make a small hole in the boil and then squeeze out the pus. Be sure to sterilize your hands or to wear sterilized gloves before doing this.

The important thing is to drain out all the fluid and please remember not to let the infection spread to other parts of your body by washing your hands every time you touch the boil.
