Gout Dietary tips

The primary cause of gout is considered to be wearing high heels and not resting your feet adequately enough. The secondary cause of gout is considered to be excessive uric acid present in your body. Since there are no food-based alternatives available for the first cause, it is only the second cause that can have such solutions.

The best remedy for dealing with the painful problem of gout, however, is to rest. You can apply ice for relief from the pain, and once the pain has subsided, you can massage the joint with warm mustard oil, which will help in dispersing the pain. It is generally smart to avoid painkillers which merely suppress the pain only to have it return magnified.

Among the foods that help are cherries, bananas, carrots, apples, celery and corn. Adding one or all of these substances to your diet should help you tremendously, since they are all substances known to flush out excess quantities of uric acid from the body. Among other remedies you can follow, one of the best ones is to apply activated charcoal powder to your gout. This will also draw out excessive uric acid and help with the pain as well. You can also apply a poultice of boiled and mashed potatoes to your gout for relief.
