Vaginal Discharge causes and alternative cures First, you need to figure out if your discharge is a normal, regular discharge or signs of an infection. If your discharge is red and follows a monthly cycle, it is most probably your natural menstrual flow. There are several other instances in which your vagina will have discharge.
Stress, pregnancy, sexual excitement – all these are potential causes of natural and normal vaginal discharge.
To figure out if your discharge is really abnormal, observe your discharge. If it's colour and consistency changes often, it is most probably an infection. If the discharge is accompanied by an itchy rash and / or pain, you must visit a doctor immediately, as this is a sign of an infected vagina. The best sign that your discharge is infection-related is a foul smelling flow that is yellow / green in colour.
If you do have a vaginal infection, it's best not to treat it yourself. Bacterial infections are easily cured with medicines found over the counter. Eat a lot of yoghurt and vitamin C. Decrease or stop the amount of sugar you ingest. If you have an yeast infection, the sugar will help the yeast to grow faster. Do the same with your alcohol-ingestion amount too. Alcohol levels have to be lowered if your body is trying to battle off a fungal attack.
Garlic, ingested or used as a douche (in a water solution) are very beneficial too.
