Muscle cramps causes and natural cures The best cure for a cramp after a work out is a massage. Workout with a buddy if you cramp in hard-to-reach spots, and make sure he or she does not apply more than adequate pressure to the affected area. A hot bath, especially a pressure-directed hot water jet on the afflicted muscle area is of great and immediate help too.
If you experience cramps every time you workout, re-think your workout itself. Are you getting enough of warm-up time? Are you attempting too much of a work-out weight?
If the answer to these questions is a “Yes”, you need to rework your workout plan.
Gently stretch and flex the muscles that are cramping. Make sure that you have at least ten glasses of water everyday. High water content in the body usually means that your muscles will work a longer time without cramping up. Sometimes, the muscles cramp because they are lacking in certain electrolytic substances like salt, potassium, calcium and magnesium. Drinking only water in such a case will not help a lot. Drink sport-drinks which are pre-spiked with high amounts of these nutrients. If the cramps continue, check with your doctor and your gym instructor. All the best!
