Alternative Treatment for Gas

Reducing gas is largely up to how you regulate and control your diet. Here are a few tips to do just that -

Any food that is high on fibre and carbohydrates are usually the biggest culprits that cause gas to accumulate in the body. Beans, peas, whole grains and gassy drinks are the types of food and drink you must watch out for.

Avoid them. Avoid dairy products as much as possible too.

Drink at least 12 glasses of water.

This will always help – not just for your gas problem, but for your overall health too. Sticking to only non-carbonated drinks and soups too are a good way to avoid gas. If you must have beer, let it go a little flat before drinking it.

People who smoke, eat a lot of chewing gum and hard candy swallow a larger than normal amount of air. Do not indulge in these and you will find that your body's gas content will be under control.

Eat food that is low on fat. How does this help gas, you might think? Well – a low fat diet allows the stomach to empty faster into the small intestine. This makes for lesser gas formation and faster passage of remaining gas through the digestive tract.

Keep a detailed diary of what you eat. This will help you device a trial-and-error method to arrive on a diet that's best suited for you.
