Causes Symptoms and Treatment for Ear Infection

Ear infections are called Otitis Media, scientifically. These infections usually come upon a patient after the attack of a cold virus, but it is not in any way contagious. There are several symptoms that point to the presence of an ear infection.

A sharp ear pain is one of the easiest ways to tell that you have an ear infection. If you do detect such an ailment, you need to make sure you do not treat by inserting anything into the ear. Go and visit your physician. There is also a tugging sensation in the ear when such an infection is prevalent.

There is also a certain presence of irritability in the ear too – an itching, uneasy feeling. All this obviously means that hearing will be muffled. This sort of feeling too is an indication of an infection. Sometimes, a fever is also present.

A stuffy nose and a sore throat are also by-products of an ear infection. Rarely, an ear infection can even cause loss of appetite and diarrhoea.

Painful ears should be treated with prescription pain killers. Try a warm compress on the ear too. Antibiotics too, when suggested by a doctor, will work wonders.

We hope this answers your query.
