Irritated throat remedies A cup of water boiled with holy basil leaves for 15 minutes, and a teaspoon of honey added to it will instantly soothe your throat. Onion, grape or pineapple juice will help to heal an irritated throat as well. An effective remedy to soothe and heal a tired throat is a glass of hot milk with a teaspoon of turmeric powder added to it. If you do not like the taste, add a teaspoon of honey to it. You can also chew on some liquorice for relief. A salty gargle with hot water is also an effective remedy to soothe raw throats.
Hot ginger tea is an excellent choice for relief. Alternatively, you can also make a hot tea with cardamom and a few peppercorns thrown in. A gargle with tamarind water will make the irritation subside instantly. You can make this water by putting four or five pieces of dry tamarind in a cup of water and boiling till it is reduced to half. Likewise you can also gargle with lemon, cayenne pepper, sea salt, vinegar and honey. All of these are excellent remedies for healing a sore throat. Try to remain silent for a full day. Nothing else is more effective!
