Treatment for itchy skin

An insect bite can often be painful. These bites can irritate your skin and you may notice the development of rashes and even swelling on your body. If you experience any feeling of nausea or dizziness you should consult your doctor at the earliest.

Immediately after you notice the rashes on your body, you should hold the affected part under running water. This will soothe the skin and help the swelling go down. If your entire body shows rashes, you should fill a tub with lukewarm water and sit in this for a little while.

You can also make a paste of cornstarch and some water. A paste made of common salt and a few drops of water will also effectively bring down the swelling.   Let it dry and then wash it off later. You can also add one tablespoon of baking soda in a bowl of water.  Dip a towel in this and apply this to your rashes.

An ice pack, applied on the affected area, is usually effective in bringing down the swelling. After you have used the ice pack for some time, you can also try the heat treatment. Dip a towel in some hot water and hold this to the rashes.
