Sea sickness natural remedies

There are 3 different schools of thought to cure sea sickness that continues even after the patient has gotten off the boat. The 3 ways are

  • Behavioral
  • Medical
  • Stimulators
  • Exercise

Behavioral remedies work simply by altering the behavior of the patient, so that the sea sickness is reduced. While on the ship, stay near a place where the horizon is easily visible.

Find a room in the middle of the ship if possible. Both these behaviors will reduce sea sickness considerably. Eating bland food while aboard also helps.

Eat crackers and bread – these foods will help you control any feelings to throw up. Similarly, bananas and rice are also fit for the cause.
Medical treatment is possible too. A large amount of prescription drugs are available over the counter, so please visit your doctor.

Stimulators are usually rubber bands worn over the wrist. These ‘sea bands' have shown good results in some, though this method could also be a placebo.
Finally, there is the exercise method. This involves being habitually exposed to movement similar to that in the ships. This is for people whose need to get rid of this sickness is imperative – like pilots for example .The exercise might involve regular sessions spent in a revolving chair.
