Allergies home remedies

The main approach to handling an allergy is to find out what exactly it is that is setting off the allergic reaction and then avoid it. Any home remedies will only provide relief, that too to a limited extent, but they will not prevent the allergic reaction from occurring in the first place. Try to keep track of events that occurred before you experienced the allergic reaction — anything you might have eaten or touched, for example. Substances that are common allergens include milk, fish, peanuts, eggs dust, pollen, and certain chemicals and metals. Sometimes hives (the swelling and rash in an allergic reaction) is not really due to an allergy but due to stress, so consider that as a possible cause too.

Home remedies for allergic reactions are a bit risky when you don't know what you are allergic to you, as you might end up worsening your rash instead of soothing it. The safest approach is to use a cold compress on your rash. Once you have figured out what is causing your rash, you can also use calamine lotion in case of an outbreak. You can also apply tamarind juice to the affected areas or a paste of oatmeal and water.
