How to drain ear fluid
(29 Mar 2008)

Home Remedies to Clean Fluid in Ear

If you have been swimming, then it is possible that some water has entered your ear canal. Sometimes people who have not been swimming also manage to get some water trapped in their ear canal. The ear wax prevents this water from coming out of the ear.

The presence of water in the dark, moist ear canal makes this the perfect breeding ground for infections of various kinds. If you have had the fluid in your ear for some time now, it is quite likely that you already have an infection of some kind. If you notice any discharge or experience any pain it would be advisable to consult your doctor at once.

Other people who have suffered from fluid in their ears have used a few drops of vinegar in their ears and found it beneficial in clearing the fluid.  Another remedy that people have found effective is using a few drops of onion juice in the ears.  However, if you are reluctant to put anything in your ears, you can try holding a hot towel to your ears. This will help the pain reduce. Another remedy that you can try is putting in a handful of rice into a clean sock. Heat this in the microwave and then hold this to your ear. Repeat this a few times. This will help your ear fluids drain.
