Pin worms home treatment Pinworms are a rather minor, although quite irritating and frustrating problem, but unfortunately, there are no real home remedies to get rid of them. The only option is a tablet that is available over the counter — you simply need to go to your chemist and ask for medication for pinworms. Several common household ingredients are often recommended to treat infestations of pinworms and other worms, but none of them are really effective.
These include castor oil, raw carrots, onions, or garlic, and cloves. None of these are particularly effective, if at all, and when there is a safe, easily available treatment that is almost certain to work, wasting time with home remedies will probably only unnecessarily prolong the agony.
Note that the medication needs to be taken at least twice.
Pinworms make their home in the lower most part of the digestive system, where they also lay eggs. The first time you take the tablet, only the worms will be killed, while the eggs survive. You will therefore need to take a second dose around two weeks later, when the eggs will have hatched. This will kill the larvae that hatch from the eggs as well.
It is advisable for everyone in the house to take the medication, as pinworms tend to spread easily within the members of a household.
