A person suffers from piles or hemorrhoids when the veins inside or just outside his rectum are inflamed. This causes pain and difficulty in defecating. In case of external piles, (when the veins outside the rectum are inflamed), there is little bleeding with a lot of pain.
When suffering from internal piles, a patient experiences discharge of dark blood. Sometimes veins burst leading to a condition called bleeding piles. Chronic constipation is one of the leading reasons for piles.
When one tries to defecate forcefully it gives pressure on the rectum causing piles. The basic idea to avoid or treat piles is to not be constipated. Drink lots of water every day; eat fibrous food and green vegetables to keep bowels clean. Obesity is another reason, especially if fats accumulate near the lower abdominal area.
The trouble with piles is that it can recur any time if you backtrack on your healthy lifestyle regime. However, there are many treatments that can cure piles within a month’s time. If you follow these religiously, you may not suffer from the painful condition again through your life. One of the treatments is consuming figs, the seeds of which are known to be good for bowel movements. Clean three of four figs in hot water and soak them in another bowl of water overnight. Eat them first thing in the morning and drink up the water they were soaked in. Then clean and soak three or four figs and take them in a similar manner in the evening. Continue this for about three to four weeks. It will relieve the pressure on the anus and contract the hemorrhoids. Another remedy is, adding some powdered black mustard in a bowl of curd, blending it thoroughly before consumption. Make sure that you chew the mustard well. Follow it with drinking a glassful of buttermilk. This will help you get rid of piles at the earliest. White radish is also known to deal with piles very effectively. Mix 100 mg of grated radish with a teaspoon of honey and take the mix twice daily. You can also consume doses of 60-90 ml of radish juice mixed with a pinch of salt every morning and evening. Applying the juice of white radish and milk on affected area reduces pain and inflammation. Half a teaspoon of ginger juice, lime juice, mint leaves juice each; mixed with one tablespoon honey taken once daily also cures the problem in a short period of time.

Piles natural remedies Treatment for hemorrhoids or piles primarily consists of home remedies and general precautions, except for cases in which the condition is particularly severe and requires surgery or some kind of medical treatment. In most cases, hemorrhoids are caused by other problems such as constipation, diarrhea, obesity, and hypertension. The condition is basically a swelling of the veins and tissues in the anus due to excessive pressure and irritation. If the cause of the hemorrhoids is handled effectively and quickly, the condition usually disappears on its own within a short time. You should therefore make sure that your diet is healthy, with plenty of fiber, and a minimum of spices and oily foods. Drink enough water daily, and avoid anything that tends to give you constipation or diarrhea. If you are obese or suffer from hypertension, you should also try to tackle these problems by modifying your diet accordingly.
If passing stools is painful, you can use a suppository that is available over the counter, or simply apply petroleum jelly to your anus. After you pass a stool, wash yourself gently with cool water. You can also use a cold compress after passing stools and at other times of the day too, whenever possible.
