Our eyes often get sore due to overwork and tensions. You may find yourself rubbing at your eyes or even notice that your eyes look red and have circles under them. This is an indication that you should take it easy for some time now and avoid straining your eyes.
However if you continue to have trouble with your eyes, and if you have a blurring of vision or other such problems, then you should consult your doctor.
Wash your eyes with plenty of cold water. You can also use milk to wash your eyes. You can make a simple poultice to apply on your eyes. Grate an apple and wrap this in a muslin cloth. Hold this to the eyes. Grated cucumbers can also be used in a similar manner. Grated raw potato is also believed to be beneficial in this condition.
Cold compress is effective too. You can wrap some ice cubes in a muslin cloth and hold this to your eye or else dip a cloth in a bowl of cold water and leave it on your eyes for some time. Mix some rose water with some plain water. Use cotton swabs to dip into this and apply on your eye. Avoid scratching your eyes or using any eye drops without consulting your doctor.
