Alternative remedy for anaemia

Only certain types of anemia are hereditary, but otherwise, anemia may be due to nutritional or other problems. Anemia literally means without blood, and although the condition is not really as serious as that, a severe case of anemia can sometimes have pretty serious consequences. What anemia actually involves is a deficiency of hemoglobin, because of many possible reasons, but basically boiling down to blood loss, destruction of red blood cells, or inadequate production of the cells.

Common symptoms include shortness of breath, fatigue, and weakness with any kind of exertion, and sometimes even constantly.

Treatment for anemia depends on its severity and the underlying cause. One common cause is iron deficiency, which, if mild, can be treated by iron and Vitamin C supplements.

You can also eat foods that are high in absorbable iron, such as cereals and meat. As mentioned before, vitamin C also helps, by facilitating absorption of iron — instead of taking supplements, you can eat fruits that are high in vitamin C. However, if your iron deficiency is severe, then you need to determine the cause for this problem too. Meanwhile, avoid drinking tea and coffee during your meals if you are in the habit of doing so, as they tend to hamper iron absorption.
You should however get your doctors opinion on these measures, as they may not be enough for severe anemia, which may require more drastic treatment.
