Cures for bacterial vaginosis Bacterial vaginosis or vaginitis is a fairly common infection that affects women frequently. If the infection lasts for more than a week, you should get medical help in the matter. There are some simple home remedies you can use to control the infection and keep a check on it. Apply cold compresses to the area. You can do this by wrapping ice cubes in a washcloth and leaving it on for a while. Switch to cotton panties. Change panties twice a day at least. This will maintain hygiene. Keep the entire vaginal area dry. For itching and scratching, you can try applying used tea bags to the area. This will provide instant relief. You can also make a solution of sandalwood oil and rose water, chill it and apply this. This will provide lasting relief. Increase yogurt intake to at least three servings a day. Live bacteria in yogurt play a role in eliminating infection. Drink hot milk with turmeric every night before going to bed. This will fight infection. Wash your vagina with warm soapy water, moving from the vagina to the rectum and cleanse it thoroughly with diluted hydrogen peroxide. At least during the time you have the infection, avoid fizzy drinks, since they have a tendency to aggravate discomfort.
