Blood pressure advice Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a very common ailment worldwide these days and is a condition that you must try to control at once because it greatly increases the risk of cardiac problems and other problems.
Hypertension is caused by a number of reasons including heredity, age, race, gender, smoking, excessive drinking, an abnormal salt intake. In addition, if you lead a sedentary lifestyle, your chances of having hypertension are increased.
Depending upon whether you have mild or serious hypertension, you have a many treatment options that you can consult your doctor for Serious hypertension would typically require prescribed medication in addition to some serious lifestyle changes but for mild hypertension, you could use a various non-drug methods. You should first ensure that you are eating a low-fat, healthy diet. Cut down on salt and processed foods. Potassium helps bring down your blood pressure hence you must eat bananas, milk, and citrus fruits. You should also stop smoking and cut down on drinking too much. Some studies suggest that people who have salt-induced hypertension may be able to react well to calcium supplements to control their blood pressure. In addition, you must also get some exercise regularly and if you are overweight, you should lose the excess weight at once. Avoid weight-lifting because this might have a completely negative effect on your blood pressure and do aerobic exercises instead.
