Graying of hair is a common process while you undergo ageing, but the premature graying of hair is due to a deficiency in your skin and scalp. Hair is one of the appendages of the skin that grows as an outgrowth of the hair follicles located on the scalp. The scalp is nourished by the sebaceous glands which secrete a chemical substance called sebum.

Sebum provides hairs with nutrition and is also the source of luster for the hair. The color of hair is determined by the presence of melanin in the hair. When insufficient quantities of melanin are produced, the hair seems to appear white in color; due to the reduced amounts of melanin.

The common causes of premature grey hairs are:

  • Lack of nutrients like Vitamin A, Vitamin B, iron, copper, and iodine may cause early graying of hair.
  • Mental stress and worries are another prominent reason for the premature graying of hair.
  • An unhygienic scalp may also cause early graying of hair.
  • Hereditary factors may also lead to premature grey hair.

Some of the common home remedies to treat premature graying of hairs are as follows:

  • You can employ Indian gooseberry to treat this condition as it serves as a hair tonic which helps in enriching hair growth and retarding the loss of hair pigmentation. Cut the fruits into slices, dry them, and then boil the slices in coconut oil. Apply the homemade tonic on your scalp for a while and then rinse it off. You may also use gooseberry juice to massage your hair.
  • Extract the juice of Amaranth to cure the premature graying of hair and retain the color of your hair.
  • Curry leaves can also prove beneficial in premature graying. Increase the intake of curry leaves in your diet. You can also use the juice of curry leaves in buttermilk to massage your scalp. Curry leaves help to provide vitality to the scalp and stimulate hair growth.
  • Do not consume devitalizing foods like white flour, refined sugar, and aerated drinks. You must also restrict your intake of canned or processed foods.
  • Massaging your scalp with almond oil is another great way to treat this condition.
  • Do include a lot of fruits and vegetables in your diet to ensure that your body gets all essential minerals and vitamins that it needs. A balanced diet is necessary to maintain the health of your hair.
  • A dermatologist may be able to identify the exact reason for this premature graying and suggest an appropriate method of treatment.

Treatment for white hair

Most people do lose hair and worry about it incessantly. However for people who notice prematurely gray or white hair, things are a great deal more traumatic. Heredity is usually responsible for premature graying of hair or for the appearance of white hair very really in life.

While coloring the hair to disguise the white or gray hair is one option, you can think of a home remedy to help you.
Our hair actually grows from the follicles and gets its nourishment from tiny glands called sebaceous. These secrete the oil that feeds our hair and keeps it looking healthy and lustrous. Stress and a bad diet are two of the main causes for hair to turn white prematurely. If you are unable to clean your hair and scalp regularly or if you use very harsh shampoos, these could harm your hair and result in the appearance of those white hair. Massaging the scalp with warm oil is an accepted way to stimulate circulation. In case of white hair, you can use butter, made specifically from cow's milk, to massage the hair. Eating a pat of this butter is beneficial too. Indian gooseberry is beneficial too. And if you can find dried pieces of this fruit, you should leave them in water overnight and use that water for the last rinse.  Eating a diet rich in various nutrients helps too and you should eat plenty of yogurt and yeast with every meal.
