Vaginal discharge advice Vaginal discharge occurs naturally and is the fluid that gets produced in the glands located in the vaginal lining and in the cervix. A certain amount of discharge everyday is quite normal and helps keep the vagina clean and healthy. This discharge is usually white, quite milky, in colour, and does not have an odour.
If you have an abnormally excessive amount of discharge, you can identify through three main symptoms: changes in the colour of your discharge, excessive discharge, and burning and itching sensations in the vagina and the vulva. This condition is a side effect of a bacterial infection known as vaginitis. You could also be suffering from excessive discharge because of a reaction to your contraceptive pill or a spermicide.
Vaginal odour usually accompanies a vaginal infection.
To cure this condition, you must wear loose and comfortable clothing. Try and avoid wearing synthetic fabrics and wear only cotton clothing. Avoid underwear that might encourage a damp environment in this area. It is very important that your vaginal area should be clean and dry. Use a douche that is made up of vinegar and water to wash the area. Ensure that you do not use a douche too often because it tends to encourage infections if used too frequently. If your symptoms do not reduce in a few days, seek the advice of a doctor.
