Nothing can be more irksome or uncomfortable than having one’s thighs constantly rubbing against one another and getting chaffed. At times chaffing thighs can even become painful due to the friction from the rubbing. There are some simple ways in which one can tackle this problem.
One of the main steps in reducing the chaffing of one’s thighs is by wearing loose trousers, shorts or skirts. When the cloth of the garment one is wearing is tight on the thighs, it causes skin and the material to constantly rub together. This can cause chaffing that is very uncomfortable for the person.
One should also avoid wearing clothes which are not cotton. Nylons and other synthetic garments can cause the trapping of heat around one’s thigh area leading to blisters forming or skin getting rubbed excessively. This is especially vital for those who are walking or exercising a lot. They really need to ensure that they are wearing 100 percent cotton garments. One can even try dabbing some powder around the thigh area especially where the thighs normally rub. This can prevent friction from developing and reduce any resulting pain from the rubbing. When rubbing on the powder try and stretch the skin and get the powder into all the grooves as when one walks there are more areas of skin that rub against each other. Powder also helps to prevent any sweating which can further cause chaffing. Whenever one feels that the skin is getting really stretched and damp again and hence beginning to rub, it is essential to apply more powder to the area.
One should try and have plenty of baths to stay as fresh and sweat free as possible. Do not wear any clothes or shorts that are damp as even this can increase the chaffing due to the friction. Damp clothes can be uncomfortable and can could lead to the formation of blisters forming between one’s thighs. Chaffing is more likely to occur among those people who are over weight and hence who have skin that rubs together against each other. If one is obese then one can could try wearing a type of elastic bandage that is tied around one’s thighs that will help in preventing chaffing from occurring. One can use some kind of cream like petroleum jelly to help in keeping the skin from getting any friction from the rubbing together of the thighs. One can even try applying some aloe vera over the areas that are likely to get chaffed.
