Ways to Reduce and Conceal Flare Ups of Rosacea at Home

by Garreth Myers

Rosacea is unfortunately a non curable facial skin condition that affects a surprisingly large number of people across the globe. It is not similar to acne as it appears in the central region of the face – on the forehead, the cheeks and the nose area in the form of red and pink spots or blotches.

While the best step is for you to consult your dermatologist for assistance on this, there are a number of home remedies you can resort to as well.

Please remember that these remedies will not provide instant results and you may need to use them for a while to help reduce the onset of Rosacea. Rosacea can also be aggravated by stress and the excessive exposure of the skin to the sun and to dry hot winds. Ensure that you have applied a sufficient amount of a good sunscreen all over your body at least 20 minutes before stepping out.

You should also use a scarf to protect your face.

Avoid washing your face with hot water and scrubbing as this will only exacerbate the problem. Splash cold water on your face and allow it dry naturally. Also, the application of rose water and/or hazel water is useful in soothing a Rosacea flare-up. There are also soothing moisturizers
available at the local pharmacist containing green tea which are very effective. Two tablespoons of Apple cider vinegar when taken three times a day is also supposed to help in reducing the flare up of Rosacea. You can also apply cold yoghurt mixed with gram flour to the affected areas of your face. Make sure that the paste is thin without being runny. This face pack should then be applied and left to dry after which it should be washed off with cold water. Do not rub your skin dry but instead pat it dry with a sterile cotton pad. You can also use make up to help conceal the Rosacea inflammation. A foundation with a cream base and/ or a concealer can be applied on the area. Make sure to use a brand that will not affect your skin and further compound this problem.

Last but not the least; you need to have a consistent and healthy diet. A diet that is rich in fibers, papaya, and other fresh fruits will also help in reducing the inflammation. Make sure that you avoid spicy foods that are rich in starch and oil as this also aggravates the condition.
