Rough Hair Care Tips

by Kevin Pederson
While a person’s hair does not contribute medically to the health of the body, it is considered to be an extremely important feature when it comes to judging a person’s aesthetic appeal. What a lot of people are unaware about is that the condition of the hair is also considered to be a barometer for the overall health of the body by a trained medical professional. The hair cells are the fastest growing in the body and require a significant amount of energy to grow.

When the body is attacked by some kind of infection or virus, it requires a lot of energy to fight off the foreign bodies. As a result, the energy is rerouted from the hair to the area of higher priority. This leads to a lack of minerals and vitamins being supplied to the hair as well, thereby causing a major dip in the overall health of your hair.

If the underlying condition or infection lasts for a long period of time, hair loss and breakage is extremely likely. The texture of your hair could also be significantly damaged by over exposure to chemicals that are often contained in hair care products. Blow drying your hair and using curling irons on a regular basis also exposes your hair to significant amounts of heat – causing tremendous damage to the hair cells.

The first step in conditioning your hair will be to repair any damage that has been sustained. You could do so with the help of a hot oil treatment where all you need to do is heat up some coconut oil and apply it thoroughly to the scalp and hair. After which, you should wrap a warm towel around your head to activate the healing properties of the coconut oil. When the towel has warmed down, you can wash your hair with the help of some lukewarm water. Once your hair has been returned to an acceptable level of strength by using this treatment for a few times, you can expose it to a few other treatments that will smoothen its texture. For example, you could try mixing a spoon of baking soda with your shampoo and apply it to your hair on a frequent basis or even applying some fenugreek seed paste mixed with egg yolk almost every other month. Coconut milk is also considered to be very nourishing for the hair roots and should be generously applied to your hair on a regular basis.
