A person’s hair, while not offering much medical significance is one of the aesthetic high points of the individual’s appearance. As a result, people are often very concerned about the condition of their hair and its health. While some people try to remedy or at least
prevent hair loss, others try to tame their unruly curls.
It is not uncommon for people to want to change the texture of their hair; unfortunately there is no way to ensure that the new hair that grows would also follow this new pattern. For centuries people have tried to come up with some kind of chemical or natural treatment that will allow them to opt for a one-time procedure that will ensure that their hair structure is changed and that their hair grows straight. However, no one has been successful thus far, prompting a number of people to choose the faster, yet unstable, option of hair re-bonding.
Re-bonding is a new age chemical hair treatment that not only straightens your hair, but provides it with a significant shine and sleekness. Your natural hair structure is defined by a number of bonds within the hair cells – causing it to look wavy, curly or straight. During the re-bonding process, a cream softener or relaxant is used to break down this rigid hair structure, after which a neutralizer is used to bond the structure again in a straight pattern. This hair treatment options remains a permanent changed for the part of the hair shaft that it was applied to. To elaborate, any new growth in the hair will follow the original natural structure pattern and a few touch ups of re-bonding may be required to attain completely straight hair. It is important to understand that just as any chemical exposure can be harmful to your hair, you should avoid re-bonding or touching up your hair too often as it could cause your hair to become excessively weak and dry – leading to hair loss.
Maintenance is extremely important when dealing with re-bonded hair. To avoid it becoming coarse, you should try using shampoo that is designed to work with straight hair and apply some kind of hair serum whenever you towel dry your hair. Make it a regular practice to oil your hair regularly. You can also steam your hair once in two weeks to ensure that the oil penetrates into your hair and scalp. Use coconut oil, olive oil or almond oil to oil your hair as these are thin oils that are easily absorbed by the hair and scalp. You could also go back to the hair salon where you had the treatment performed and ask them to repair any damage. Avoid exposing your hair to any other chemicals for the next 6 months at the very least.
