Skin Pigmentation Causes and Remedies

by Kevin Pederson
The world we live in today places an extraordinarily high amount of stock in the aesthetic appeal of an individual. As a result, it is no surprise to see how important it is for some people to do almost anything possible to make sure that they look as good as they can. While it is, of course, a good thing to always strive to look your best, some people are even inclined to go as far as undergoing unnatural methods such as plastic surgery to attain their desires.

The problem with this is the fact that most people are generally not very satisfied primarily because they know they can always change their appearance, making it something they resort to for even the smallest of imperfections. Apart from the structural aesthetics of a person’s body, another very prominent feature is the skin complexion. Skin pigmentation and darkening of the skin are caused by a number of factors such as excessive exposure of the skin to sunlight as well as the effects of certain chemicals present in the cosmetics we use most often.

Fair skin has always been a feature that a majority of individuals all over the world have aspired to attain, but one should remember that if he or she was born with dark skin, chances are that, not much can be done to make it fairer. It is important to be comfortable in your skin, no matter what color it is, so your self esteem is not impacted too much.

Getting to look fairer is a combination of a number of adjustments to your lifestyle as well as the benefits of some very effective home remedies. For example, the lifestyle change will come into effect if you generally venture outdoors when the sun is out as this causes an increase in the production of melanin in the body to protect the skin against the ultra violet rays of the sun which cause skin cancer. The melanin makes the skin darker, so avoid venturing out in the sun to prevent your skin from getting any darker. Lemon juice is widely considered to be a natural bleaching agent. Extract some juice from a few lemons and apply the juice to the affected areas of your skin. Leave it on your skin for some time before washing it with plain water. Perform this treatment on a regular basis in order to notice a significant change in the complexion of your skin.
