Flaky dry scalp is defined medically as dandruff. It is the condition where in the skin on the scalp tends to become shiny with silvery scales. These scales get separated from the person’s scalp and also collect on the shoulders or on the clothes.
When a person begins to brush their hair, this will cause the dry flaky skin that has formed scales to loosen. These scales will follow and settle on the shoulders, eye brows, clothes and so on. At times the scales on the hair can appear to be as lumps or even as crusts.
Often this condition is accompanied by itching and scratching which can lead to the scalp getting sore. Some of the common causes of this condition include any kind of impairment of the person’s general health. It can also be brought on a person consuming anything that is toxic.
Some of the home remedies for this condition include the use of fenugreek seeds. Try taking about 2 tablespoons of fenugreek seeds that have been allowed to soak overnight in water. Grind these into a fine paste once the morning has come. Then proceed to apply this paste all over the scalp that has been affected. Separately an application of lime has been found useful in treating this condition. Try using a teaspoon of lime juice as the final rinse once the hair has been washed. This causes the hair to glow and it also removes any stickiness that might be there as well as reducing any
dandruff.
Beet has also been found to be a useful
treatment for flaky scalp. Boil the beet in water along with its roots, and then proceed to apply the water all over the scalp. White beet has been found to be even better for this condition. Yogurt has also been found to have beneficial properties. Try massaging some yogurt into the scalp and leaving for a while. Apple cider vinegar can also be diluted with an equal portion of water and then used as a rinse. It is beneficial in helping to get rid of any dry flaky hair skin. Consuming lots of fruits in one’s daily diet can go a long way in treating this condition. The person should avoid any kind of coffee, tea or other beverages. Drink plenty of fluids and fruits juices. Washing one’s hair regularly can also go along way in reducing dry flaking skin.
