There are a number of effective natural remedies for BV or bacterial vaginosis. Although the exact cause of Bacterial Vaginosis is not completely understood, it is associated with an imbalance in the types of bacteria that are naturally found in a woman's vagina. Under normal circumstances, there are various types of bacteria present in a woman’s vagina; while there are a few "bad" bacteria, the majority is "good".

BV is generally indicated by a marked reduction in the bacterium lactobacilli.
One of the first symptoms of this condition is an abnormal vaginal discharge which tends to have an unpleasant and strong fish-like odor. It is not uncommon for a woman with BV to experience a burning sensation while urinating.

This can also be accompanied by mild, moderate or even severe itching. There are however many BV home remedies.
Since the main problem with BV is an imbalance in bacterial flora an effective BV remedy would be a hydrogen peroxide douche.

It is not advisable for you to use a warm water douche as part of your regular hygienic regimen as it can upset your PH balance and lead to a predominance of unhealthy bacteria. However, Hydrogen peroxide eliminates harmful bacteria while promoting the growth of beneficial vaginal bacteria. You will have to use a mild solution everyday for a week. In addition to this, wash yourself with warm water and an antibacterial soap every day. This will help to keep the outside of your vagina clean and prevent any other bacterial or fungal infection.  Along with such BV remedies it would be wise to have a diet that includes a lot of yogurt as it contains lactobacillus. To help to fight off any infection you can also have a couple of garlic pods every day. You can heat a couple of garlic pods (complete with their skins) in a saucepan and once the skins start to brown you can take them off and keep them aside to cool. One they have cooled, you can peel off the skins and chew the cloves slowly and thoroughly. You will also have to follow various dietary changes. You will have to stay away from processed sugar and white flour products. Although this would mean that you have to abstain from noodles, pasta and white bread, you can have products that are made from whole meal. You will also have to make sure that you stay away from any alcoholic beverages for at least a fortnight. Another effective BV home remedy includes garlic oil or tea tree oil but I would suggest that you try them only if your problem recurs.
