Athletes Foot Remedies
by Kevin Pederson
Ringworm of the feet is more commonly known as Athlete's Foot. It is caused by fungus and infects the web spaces between the toes. The infection begins with being infected on the surface of the skin and it slowly runs its way down to the skin tissue.
It is very important to stop the progress and the spreading of the infection as it might create further severe problems. A natural athletes foot remedy is to apply baking soda. Take a tablespoon of baking soda apply it directly on the infected area.
Spread the baking soda properly, covering the entire area. You can also heat the baking soda in a cup of water and apply the solution thoroughly on the feet. Rinse after 15 minutes of application. This practice should be done at least three times in a day for about two weeks.
Another athletes foot remedy is the application of a garlic extract called Ajoene. This compound is considered to be very helpful in the speedy recovery of athlete's foot. The extract can either be applied on the affected area or consumed at least twice in a day by mixing it in the meals. Application of hydrogen peroxide and rubbing alcohol on the infection is also an effective athletes foot home remedy. Urinating on the infected area is considered to be one of the valuable athletes foot natural remedies. The compound present in the urine clears the fungus and alleviates the symptoms. The feet should not stay wet for a longer period of time as fungus usually grows in moist situations. The feet should remain dry at all times. You can either use a dry towel or a hair dryer for drying the feet. Wear thin cotton socks instead of thick nylon. Thin socks will make your feet sweat less and also free from odor. These are considered to be some of the most effective athletes foot home remedies.
Aromatherapy is also a surefire method of curbing athlete's foot. Add two to three drops of thyme oil, geranium oil and tea tree oil on the affected area twice in a day. You can add three to four drops of these oils in a vessel of warm water and soak your feet in it for 15 to 20 minutes. The area will heal completely in a period of five to six days. Witch hazel is a well known herbal remedy for athletes foot. Witch hazel should be added to your meals or beverages for at least four days and you will see a remarkable improvement. Homeopathy is also known to be very instrumental for the cure of athlete's foot. It is also very important to clear the dead skin, as the fungus might appear again. In case the infection rises to an intense level, it is highly recommended to consult a doctor immediately. Athlete's foot natural remedies are free from side effects and can be taken by people of all age groups.
