Skin Care for Men

by Kevin Pederson
Skin care for men has finally come of age, and men today are increasingly becoming conscious of their appearance as well as the emerging styles and beauty trends. They are willing to experiment with cosmetics to improve their looks without being worried about destroying their “macho” image. Her are a few skin care tips for men that will help them look great.

  • Skin care for men is important, as men’s skin is about fifteen percent oilier than women’s. It is therefore important that you follow a routine of cleansing, toning and moisturizing your skin. By doing this you will be able to rid your skin of the dirt and grime that clogs it and gives it a dull appearance.

  • A good sunscreen will help protect your skin from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun and help you look young and fresh. Sunscreen also helps protect your skin from wrinkles and helps maintain the texture of your skin.
  • The cleansing products you use should be as chemical-free as possible. Avoid using deodorant soaps on your face. The ingredients used in these are harsh and might irritate your skin.
  • Using a good scrub is a must as far as skin care for men is concerned. It helps in removing the dead cells and also gives a smooth feel to your face. Choose a scrub that is strong but does not do any damage to your skin. A good scrub will leave you feeling invigorated.
  • Moisturize your skin with a light moisturizer. It is important that you do this right after you are done with cleansing and shaving. Vitamin E makes for a great moisturizer. Simply break a capsule and directly apply the contents to your skin. It is important that you treat the under eye area as well as it is more prone to show age.
  • Keep your skin clear and firm by toning it regularly. It is important to maintain the elasticity of the skin as it ages. Astringents and toners help reduce the size of your pores. Check for products that have alpha hydroxyl acids or glycolic as they are quite effective.
  • Avoid after-shave products that have too much of fragrance in it as it might irritate your skin.
  • Check out the different products that are available in the market to treat your skin. Based on your skin type you can go in for different treatment that can pamper and enhance your skin.
